It's about a guy who goes to help a lady find her dead/missing husband, or maybe he was out doing research living with a lady with a dead husband or something. I remember his truck gets broken into at the beginning, and he's generally shunned by the locals. I also remember the lady having a daughter, and one of them having some sort of condition. There was also a scene with a lot of lights turned on at night, kinda jewelery store commercial-esque. He finds some human remains out in the field. This could also be all wrong. It's pissing me off that I can't remember what it is, so if someone knows I'll love them forever.

It could be The Hunter, with Willem Dafoe in the Tasmanian wilderness searching for some woman's husband and the last Tasmanian Tiger. In it he drives a silver Mitsubishi Pajero (or Montero/Shogun depending on where you're from).
